Screens, Navigation & Icons

Introduction

Your new system is a specialized software application that was designed for this industry.     The concepts,  terminology,  forms, icons etc.  have been chosen to make learning easier and faster.     We took input from users,  managers and consultants,  as well as existing systems,  to develop this application.

Screens

There are a few different types of screens you will see in our software.

  • List screens (many fall under this category)
  • Modal screens
  • Pop Up screens
  • Multi-Panel (Accordion)
  • Dashboard  (just one of these)

Each of these has their own chapter.

On every website,  the top of the screen is used to help you "navigate"  to certain pages.  On a news site,  for example, you may see "National", "Science", "Money"  etc.   Same with finerbutcher.com.

It is called the Navigation Bar.  It contains the most frequently used Icons,  which link you to screens.   There is an icon for Customer,  Invoices,  Tags  etc.   Every accounting system,  like QuickBooks (TM) has these "modules".

Using Icons instead of words takes up less space and doesn't distract you from your task.

To make it easier to show,  the Navigation Bar images below were divided into several  sections.

These are the icons in the Navigation Bar.   They represent many of the Modules that make up our system.

On the far right in Navigation Bar is your name,  with an drop down arrow.    This provides access to:

  • Your Profile
  • Administration (if you have rights)
  • Logout

Whenever you are finished using finerbutcher.com you should logout.

The search box in the Navigation Bar lets you search either:

  • The database (find a Customer,  Tag#  etc.)
  • The Help System (find an Article)

Other Icons

In addition to the icons used on the Navigation Bar,  our system uses icons to represent:

  • Data  (Cut Sheets,  Storage etc.)
  • Actions (Delete, Add etc.)
  • Processes (Kill,  Cure, Grind  etc.)

Here they are in black and white.  You may see them with color.

Tag Icons

These icons are mainly used when viewing/changing  Tag information.

Secondary Processing Icons

For meat that will be cured,  cooked,  stuffed  etc.  there are these Icons:

Animal Icons

By using images of animals typically processed provides instant verification on the screen.

Here are several examples of the animal icons you will see :
